Current Social Media Trends

What’s the latest in social media trends insofar as visuals are concerned, you’re probably wondering?

It’s shifting all the time so it might feel overwhelming to keep up.

Well, that’s where we step in: we’ve rounded up the latest in visual trends across the broad social media landscape so you don’t have to.

If you want your brand to keep up with what’s happening around us in the digital space, keep reading:

AI-ASSISTED DESIGNS
Particularly prevalent in the interior design and tech (and if any of it is to be believed, Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day post) space, AI-powered designs are becoming more sophisticated by the day. Platforms like Canva and Midjourney have democratised AI design, making it easier by the day for brands to adopt it as a key visual creation tool.

BOLD COLOURS
What was once a landscape of neutrals and muted earthy tones has given way to bold colours. A deliberate move away from pastels towards pops of bold colour is becoming the calling card for those brands at the forefront of design and visual innovation. Soft, pretty pinks have been replaced by flashes of burnt orange, calming earthy hues have been painted over by dramatic greens. So if you’re looking to give your brand a visual refresh, now’s the time to do it in favour of colours that will help you stand out.

TYPOGRAPHY
Font has taken the role of main character in visual design, with even cities having fonts designated in their honour. When next creating a Reel, why not incorporate an eye-catching font at the start of your video to grab attention and let viewers know what they’re in for.

UGC-LOOKING IMAGERY
The best-performing content these days can be summarised in 3 words: user-generated content. Overly curated videos and images are giving way to content that looks like it was shot on an iPhone, in low light by an amateur product user. It gives the sense of legitimacy and authenticity. And in response, even we are creating Reels for clients that have been shot in a similar way: on our studio iPhone, ditching the studio lights, foregoing extensive editing and just keeping it simple. They make for great sponsored ads.

TEXT TILES
Especially handy for service businesses or brands that don’t lend themselves to engaging imagery, text tiles are still very much on trend. Whether they’re screenshots from X (formerly Twitter) or beautifully-designed tiles in your brand colours and fonts, they’re handy when you’ve got something to say but not sure how to present it visually.

INFOGRAPHICS
Illustrations or imagery combined with text is a great tool to use to inform and educate without being boring. They’re especially handy when you want to share your brand values or showcase what makes your brand better than your competition. Align your infographics with your fonts and brand colours to maintain brand consistency.

MEMES
Make them funny (so, something people want to share) and directly related to your business and you’re onto a winning formula. Keep an eye out for any major things happening in the pop culture sphere (ahem, Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day post), photoshop your product in or allude to it in the meme and you’ve just inserted your brand into the conversation.

Those are the trends you need to know about that - if you start incorporating into your content mix - could really help you ramp up your brand’s visual (and relatability) appeal.
